Shree Dandaguan Secondary School Library Project

Project start date : 2026-04-01
Project goal : $ 12,000.00

We wish to establish a well-equipped library to enhance educational quality, promote reading and creativity, and support underprivileged students!

We kindly seek your  support in helping us establish a much-needed library at Shree Dandaguan Secondary School in rural Rasuwa, Nepal, to provide our students with access to quality educational resources, foster creativity, and create lasting opportunities for learning and growth in a post-earthquake recovery context.

Background:
Shree Dandaguan Secondary School, located in rural Rasuwa (Uttargaya-2), was severely affected by the 2015 earthquake. Although the government supports 16 teachers and GIZ provided post-earthquake infrastructure, much of the school’s facilities remain inadequate, especially during the monsoon season.

Current Challenges:

  • Inadequate library, science, and computer lab facilities.

  • Lack of ICT-based learning tools.

  • Students from mountain villages drop out after Grade 5 due to lack of accommodation.

  • An unfinished hostel building due to funding shortage.

Proposed Initiative:
The school plans to establish a well-managed and resourceful library to improve the quality of education, especially post-earthquake and post-COVID. The library will include reading materials, audio-visual resources, and creative tools (music and drawing equipment).

Objectives:

  • Enhance reading habits and access to knowledge.

  • Foster creativity through music and art.

  • Promote gender equity and community empowerment.

  • Support satellite libraries in six nearby feeder schools.

  • Introduce reflection-based learning, creative writing, and “human library” activities.

Budget Estimate:

  • Furniture and setup: NPR 300,000

  • Books & audio-visual materials: NPR 400,000

  • Music & art materials: NPR 300,000

  • Total: NPR 1,000,000 (≈ USD 7,521 / NZD 12,195)

    • 10% to be contributed by the community.

    • 10% reserved as a sustainability fund.

Accountability & Sustainability:

  • Transparent auditing involving local authorities.

  • Community-managed sustainability fund for long-term operations.

  • Regular monitoring, creative engagement, and reporting through journals and workshops.

Please consider donating to this important project and helping our mission to provide positive education outcomes for the rural children of Nepal.
    Thank you and Namaste 🙂
