Navajeewan School – Winterization Support Needed
Navajeewan School has a well-loved Active Hearts Foundation library, but their new classroom building is still without doors and windows, leaving students without a usable space during winter.
Navajeewan School – Winterization Support Needed
Navajeewan School, located in Kakani-6, Keureni in the Nuwakot district, is a vibrant community school serving 579 students with the support of 29 dedicated staff. Nineteen teachers are funded by the government, while the remaining staff are supported through generous village donations—showing how deeply the community values education. Spread across 3.3 acres (32% owned, the rest rented), the school features academic buildings, a laboratory and workshop, a hot house and horticulture area, a student hostel, and a playground. Under the leadership of Principal Mr. Binod Lama, the school shines for its strong management and its standout agricultural and permaculture programs.
Active Hearts Foundation has proudly supported Navajeewan before—most recently through the new library project created as part of the Ganesh Himal 2024 Charity Trek. This library brings much-needed resources for their hands-on agriculture courses and broader academics. As AHF CEO Dan Keys shared, “We were very impressed with the school facilities and management systems… The agricultural classes were especially encouraging, with students learning permaculture, business, and practical skills, even managing and selling their produce.”
Now, the school urgently needs help to winterize its newly constructed 10-room building, which currently has no doors or windows. This block includes 2 classrooms, 1 staff room, 2 administrative rooms, and 5 rooms for expanded student hostel facilities—all critical for supporting the growing student body.
